    For an internal combustion engine, burning hydrogen, a mechanical engineering program at a university.

    For a fuel cell, chemistry.

    Just download a torrent on it… I did a search on btjunkie on “Water4Gas” and got the below link…

    A cooler idea, in my opinion, is Wood Gas. You can easily convert a car to run on anything that burn, and about 20lb of wood will convert into about 1 gallon of fuel energy. Pretty neat considering how cheap firewood is…

    A Mechanical Engineer with a little bit of background in physics and chemistry should be able to do the design with ease.

    After that, you should get a job at a motor CNC shop, where you’ll want to work as much as possible with the tradesmen, so you can learn about how to fabricate parts.

    After that, get a job in natural gas, propane, or even a gaseous process industry like producing nitrogen. Get everything you need to know about how to get and make the parts you need to deal with gasses under pressure.

    Also, the only economical hydrogen is derived from fossil fuels, making it a really stupid alternative to gasoline.

    More pertiently, fuel cell technology has a higher efficiency, so the hydrogen you DO get will more likely be used to drive the wheels, rather than make cool noises and a lot of heat.
